Step 2 of 6 in the Setup Wizard · ← Back to the overview
You've filled in your Company Info and now you're on Domain Setup. This is where you choose the web address your platform will live on, for example app.youragency.com.
This is what makes the platform truly yours. When your clients log in, they go to your web address, not ours, so everything they see carries your brand.
Subdomain
First, choose your subdomain. Enter your agency name in the box, using lowercase letters and hyphens instead of spaces, for example youragency.
Your platform will then also be available at youragency.aipreneurs.com.
Custom Domain
Next is your custom domain. This is your own web address, and it's what your clients will use to log in. There are two parts to setting it up: choosing your custom domain, then adding your DNS records.
Part 1: Choose your custom domain
Enter your subdomain.
Enter your custom domain (see the options below).
Click Get DNS Records. You'll use these records in Part 2.
The most important rule: choose a domain that isn't being used anywhere else. For example, don't use the address of your main website, as that is already in use. Your platform needs its own address.
Option 1: Add a word to a domain you already own (free, most popular) You can create a new address from a domain you already own by adding a word to the front of it. We recommend:
app.yourcompany.com
lab.yourcompany.com
ai.yourcompany.com
Because you already own yourcompany.com, this doesn't cost anything.
Option 2: Buy a new domain If you'd like a different ending, you'll need to buy a new domain, for example yourcompany.xyz or yourcompany.net. You can buy one from providers such as GoDaddy, Namecheap or Cloudflare. Domains usually cost a small yearly fee.
Choose carefully. While you can change your domain later, we recommend choosing one you're happy to keep. Once your clients start using your platform, they'll save and bookmark your web address. Changing it later means asking all of them to start using a new one, which can cause confusion.
Part 2: Add your DNS records
Once you click Get DNS Records, the Setup Wizard shows you exactly which records to add. Copy them into your DNS settings, wherever your domain is managed, such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger or Cloudflare.
TIP: If you're not sure how to add a DNS record with your website provider, search Google or ask an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude, for example: "How do I add a DNS record in GoDaddy?" Most providers also have their own step-by-step guides.
Below, we use Cloudflare as our example, with lab.novahubportal.com as the web address.
1. Open your domain
Once you're logged in to Cloudflare, click Domains in the left-hand menu, then click the domain you want to use.
2. Go to DNS Records
On your domain's Overview page, find the DNS panel on the right-hand side and click DNS Records
3. Add a record
On the DNS records page, click the blue + Add record button.
4. Copy in the record details, one record at a time
The Setup Wizard shows you a list of DNS records to add. In this example there are three: a CNAME, a TXT and another CNAME. Each one is a separate record, so each one needs its own Add record in Cloudflare.
For each record:
a. Type: in Cloudflare, choose the same type shown in the grey label (for example CNAME or TXT).
b. Name: click the copy icon next to NAME in the Setup Wizard, then paste it into the Name field in Cloudflare.
c. Value: click the copy icon next to VALUE, then paste it into the Target (CNAME) or Content (TXT) field in Cloudflare.
d. Proxy: set the proxy status to DNS only (grey cloud, not orange). The connection won’t work with the proxy turned on. Not every DNS provider has a proxy setting, so if you don’t see one, skip this.
e. Click Save, then click Add record again for the next one.
Record 1 example · CNAME
Record 2 example · TXT
Record 3 example · CNAME · after saving
Why does the name look shorter? In the Setup Wizard, this name is clerk.lab.novahubportal.com. After you save it, Cloudflare drops your main domain from the end and just shows clerk.lab. This is normal and means the same thing, so you don’t need to change it.Check: the Type and Target match the Setup Wizard exactly, and the Proxy status says DNS only (grey cloud).
5. Wait 5 minutes
Once all your records are saved, wait 5 minutes before doing anything else. This gives your DNS provider time to start sharing your new records.
Save all records → wait 5 minutes → click Validate (Step 7)
If you’re confident your records are right, skip straight to Step 7. Step 6 is optional.
6. Check your DNS
Optional
This step is only if you’re not sure you’ve done it properly and want to double-check, or if Validate isn’t working. Otherwise, skip straight to Step 7.
dnschecker.org is a free tool that shows whether your records are live around the world.
Check each record, one at a time:
a.Paste the record’s full NAME from the Setup Wizard into the search box (for example lab.novahubportal.com).
b.Choose the matching record type from the drop-down (CNAME or TXT).
c.Click Search.
d.Repeat for every record.
We want to see green. Every location in the list should show a green tick and the same value as the Setup Wizard. If you see red crosses or missing values, give it more time and check again later.
7. Click Validate in the Setup Wizard
After waiting 5 minutes (and checking DNS Checker, if you chose to), go back to the Setup Wizard and click Validate.
Once it’s validated, go to the next step. Click Next in the Setup Wizard to move on to Step 3: Email Config.
