Getting Started with Connections

Connections link the third-party apps you already use, such as Google Calendar, Gmail, Slack or Fathom, to our platform. Once an app is connected, the two can talk to each other: you can bring information from that app into the platform.

This guide follows the walkthrough video step by step, so you can keep it open while you watch or come back to it later.

Setting up a connection

  1. Open your settings. Go to Settings, then navigate to Connections.

  2. Browse the list. You'll see all the available connections. We're adding new ones all the time, so the list may be longer than in the video.

  3. Pick only what you need. There's no need to connect everything. Connect the apps you actually use and expect to work with. You can always come back and add more later.

  4. Click Connect. A pop-up window will open for that app.

  5. Sign in. Enter the email and password for that app and follow the prompts.

  6. Check it says Connected. When the status shows Connected, the setup is complete.

Tip: Start with one or two apps you use every day. It's easier to learn what Connections can do with tools you know well.

Using a connection in Master Chat

The best place to use your connections is Master Chat. You'll get the most out of it if you go in with a clear idea of what you want to do.

  1. Open Master Chat.

  2. Type @ or click the @ button in the chat bar.

  3. Choose the app. Select the connected app you want to use, for example your calendar.

  4. Ask your question. For example: "Can you show me the meetings I have today?"

  5. Wait for the answer. You'll see a message saying it's talking to your connected app. It then checks the app and brings the answer back into the chat.

Ideas for what you can do

How you use Connections is up to you and depends on how you run your business. Here are some examples to get you started.

Connection

Example use

Google Calendar

See today's meetings or check your schedule without leaving the chat

Gmail

Write an email with our tools, then send it straight from Gmail

Fathom

Bring in your sales call transcripts and use our sales tools to monitor and improve your calls

Slack

Pull in messages or share updates with your team

Not sure where to start? Ask Master Chat: "What can I do with my connections?" It will suggest ideas based on the apps you've connected.

Want a full plan? Tell Master Chat about your business and what you'd like to achieve. The more you share, the better it can help you put together a plan for using your connections.
