Getting Started with Master Chat

Master Chat is a conversational way to use the software: you talk to it like any AI assistant, and it can use your tools, your business context and your connected apps in one place.

What Master Chat is

This guide follows the walkthrough video step by step, so you can keep it open while you watch or come back to it later.

Why use it instead of Tools? Tools are great for a single, focused job. Master Chat goes further:

  • It's a conversation. Ask a question, give an instruction, then follow up and build on the answer.

  • Your chats are saved. Open any past chat at any time and pick up where you left off.

  • It can use any tool inside the chat. You get the tool's output, plus suggestions for what to do next with it.

  • It reaches your connected apps. Pull in information from services like Google Calendar or Fathom without leaving the chat.

Before you start

A few minutes of setup makes every answer more relevant to your business.

  1. Set up your Workspace. Your Workspace holds the context about your business: what you do, who you serve, how you work. Master Chat draws on it automatically. If you haven't created one yet, do this first.

  2. Check you're working in your Workspace. Make sure it's selected before you start chatting.

  3. Choose your settings. Pick your preferred model, your voice and your offer, if you have them set up.

Don't have a voice or offer yet? You can ask Master Chat to help you create them. That's exactly what the first walkthrough below does.

Getting to know the chat bar

The chat bar is where everything happens. Beyond typing a message, it gives you four handy options.

Walkthrough 1: Create a voice style guide

In the video, Master Chat builds a voice style guide from the business context already in the Workspace. Here's how to do the same.

  1. Ask for what you want. Type something like: "Help me come up with a voice style."

  2. Watch it use your context. Master Chat refers back to the business details in your Workspace, so the suggestions fit your brand rather than being generic.

  3. Accept the offer to save it. It will offer to turn the result into a saved guide. Reply "Yes, please."

  4. Let it build the guide. Master Chat creates the full style guide for you.

  5. Copy and save it. Copy the guide and create it so it's stored for future use.

  6. Look at the suggested next steps. Master Chat finishes by suggesting what you could do next with your new guide. This follow-on help is something you don't get in Tools.

Tip: The better your Workspace context, the better the result. If the output feels generic, add more detail about your business to your Workspace and try again.

Walkthrough 2: Pull information from a connected app

The second example uses Fathom, a meeting recorder, to fetch details of a recent meeting straight into the chat.

  1. Make sure the app is connected. Master Chat can only reach apps you've already connected, such as Fathom or Google Calendar.

  2. Tag the connector in your message. Use the chat bar to reference the connected app.

  3. Ask your question. For example: "Share what my last meeting was."

  4. Get the answer in the chat. Master Chat retrieves the information from the app and brings it into your conversation, ready to work with.

Privacy tip: In the video, the request asked Master Chat to leave out names. You can do the same whenever you're sharing your screen or don't need personal details in the response.
