Why is my search volume estimate so different from actual leads?

Most common reason? Mixing up national vs local volume.

Here's what happens:

  • You check the Search Volume Estimator and see 3,000 searches

  • You get excited and launch your campaign

  • But wait... that was NATIONAL volume

  • Your campaign targets a specific city

  • Actual local volume? Maybe 50.

How to avoid this:

  1. Always use LOCAL targeting when checking estimates

  2. Make sure your geographic settings in the estimator match your campaign

  3. Aim for 200%+ of your daily target. If you want 50 leads/day, target keywords showing 100+ volume.

The estimator shows the last 7 days of captured data. It's a solid indicator but consumer behaviour fluctuates. Holidays, seasons, news events... all affect search patterns.

Use it as a guide, not a guarantee.
